When we share joy with others, the joy is doubled, and when we share sorrow, the sorrow is halved. For this reason, the New Life Welfare Foundation hosted the New Life Concert this winter to ease the pain and sorrow of our communities in need, and to create joy and hope with heartwarming songs. The concert was held at Jeongdong Event Hall, Seoul, on December 28, 2000.
Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah together with about 3,000 people, participated in the concert to share neighborly love. Famous singers, Yoo Yeol, Lee Seung-hoon, and more gladly participated as well to show their love and support.
The 1st Concert to Convey Love to Neighbors With Songs of Hope
Since the 1990s, the New Life Welfare Foundation has been helping our neighbors and communities in need. The Foundation has provided school expenses for child and adolescent-headed households and families whose income is below the poverty level with living and medical expenses, as well as promoting welfare for older adults. In 1995 when the Sampoong Department Store collapsed in Korea, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah organized disaster relief by providing free meals.
Supporting students with school expenses was not limited only to Korean students. The Foundation has helped students from various countries such as the Philippines, Pakistan, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Gabon. While stretching out a helping hand internationally, the New Life Welfare Foundation held the 1st New Life Concert to comfort people who are weary of facing hardships alone with songs of hope and melodies of love.
Songs of Hope Resound Through Everyone’s Heart

Five children diagnosed with congenital heart disease were selected as beneficiaries of the donations collected through the concert. Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah personally encouraged the children while delivering the donations to their families. The crowd cheered in solidarity, wishing for the quick recovering of the five children and for them to enjoy a healthy and happy future.
The New Life Concert, containing songs of hope, was held twice. Performers Kim Gyu-min, Kim Jae-hun, Yoo Yeol, Lee Mu-song, Human Voice, and Lee Seung-hun sang melodies to ease pain and sorrow and inspire the listeners to have hope. The concertgoers welcomed their heartwarming performances.
A Well-Being Event Benefits Many Neighbors
The members and performers ended the year meaningfully and beautifully by delivering courage and hope to children with heart diseases. On January 10, 2001, the New Life Welfare Foundation delivered appreciation plaques to the singers who inspired these children and shared love with the community through their heartfelt performances.
Through various types of volunteer services, the New Life Welfare Foundation has been taking care of neighbors in need with the heart of a mother. In addition to helping children diagnosed with heart disease or rare and incurable diseases, the Foundation plans to support children from low-income or multicultural families, as well as people suffering from natural disasters throughout the global village. The New Life Concert will not leave anyone behind but will continue to perform songs of hope until all members of society become happy.
