One cold winter day, an event was held where everyone became one through their love for neighbors. On December 13, 2015, the 16th New Life Concert was held at Seoul Jamsil Indoor Stadium. Over 15,000 members and citizens gathered for the event which was hosted by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation and sponsored by Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare, Seoul Metropolitan Government, Korea Child Abuse Prevention Association, and Sejong General Hospital. It was attended by the Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah and the directors from the WeLoveU, officials from the fields of politics, education, culture and arts, and diplomatic envoys from more than 20 countries.
New Life Concert Conveys Love for Neighbors
Neighborly love warms this heartless society and gives new strength to those who are living tiring lives. Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah expressed her gratitude to the participants who gathered to share love with neighbors, and hoped that the songs of love resounding at the concert would become the hope and light, and create a miracle that gives strength to our weary neighbors. Foreign diplomatic envoys in Korea gave their congratulatory addresses, praising the WeLoveU’s various volunteer activities to help our neighbors in the global village, and expressed their hope to continue to work together with the WeLoveU for the peace and happiness of humankind.
On this day, the WeLoveU provided medical expenses and living expenses to 84 households living in the blind spots of welfare such as children with rare or incurable diseases, senior citizens living alone and adolescent-headed households, single-parent households, grandparent-headed households, low-income households, and multicultural families. Donations which contained gratitude and encouragement were also delivered to families of firefighters who work hard day and night for the safety of citizens.
Neighborly Love Brings Happiness to Both the Givers and Recipients
At the donation ceremony, Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah personally handed the donation certificates and gifts, containing love for neighbors, to the beneficiaries. The audience cheered with a big round of applause, in the hope that their neighbors would receive hope and comfort and stay warm throughout the winter. Then the second part of the New Life Concert, which is the concert itself, began. Despite their busy schedules the singers, who came to share love with their neighbors put all their heart and soul into their performances. Although the performers came to donate their talent to give strength to their neighbors they all said, they were the ones who received healing, and that they were grateful to be a part of this meaningful event of sharing.
The WeLoveU members who filled the auditorium along with the family members of the beneficiaries, were all moved by the melodies of hope and love. The families of the firefighters who had died in the line of duty, expressed their appreciation, saying, “Thank you for not forgetting but remembering us. We had a great time here at the concert.” Mrs. Wang of a multicultural family, who received support through the concert, said that she and her children would like to become people who help others through this kind of volunteer service.
Cheerful Song of Love for Neighbors in the Global Village
““Dear firefighters’ families and underprivileged families, we are one family and neighbors living within the same fence called Earth. Please stay strong without losing hope and courage for life. We love you. I hope that the time we’ve spent together will remain as a beautiful and good memory in your lives. We will always cheer you on.”Honorary Chairwoman of the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation Zahng Gil-jah
The memory of this day that wrapped up the year by sharing love for neighbors, remained as a heartwarming memory in everyone’s heart. The WeLoveU will continue to sing the song of love to cheer on our neighbors suffering from hardships such as disaster, diseases, and poverty.
