The New Life Concert, an annual charity concert held by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation with the love of a mother, celebrated its tenth anniversary. Through the first concert held in 2000, the WeLoveU assisted with the medical expenses of five children suffering from heart disease, and plans to support 40 households this year. The number of volunteers increased, doubling the amount of support that the WeLoveU could provide, despite the worsening financial difficulties due to the swine flu pandemic. Let us look at the tenth New Life Concert in more detail.

The Love of a Mother Spreading to Every Corner
On December 20, 2009, the WeLoveU held the tenth New Life Concert to share the love of a mother at the Incheon Samsan World Gymnasium. More than 8,000 people attended: Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, the directors and members of the WeLoveU, distinguished guests from different fields, and many residents. Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah expressed her wishes, saying, “During this concert, I hope that we can deliver love and courage to our neighbors who are weighed down by the burdens of this life, holding their hands and giving them a shoulder they can lean on.”

The guests expressed gratitude through their congratulatory messages to the WeLoveU for carrying out the worldwide volunteer services with the heart of a mother. The WeLoveU Sponsor Chairman Lee Soon-jae encouraged the members, saying, “I feel really honored to be here as a member of the WeLoveU. Although it was a complicated and busy year, you’ve volunteered for people who need help.” On the day of the event, medical and living expenses were donated to 40 underprivileged families: children suffering from rare or incurable diseases, child/adolescent-headed families, single-parent families, grandparent-headed families, and multicultural families.

Performances With a Mother’s Love: a New Song, “We Love You,” Is Revealed to Celebrate the Tenth Anniversary
The second part of this event began with the performance of Goodwill Ambassador Kim Seong-hwan who was also an emcee for the concert. After a fairy tale song medley by the New Life Children’s Choir, singers Yun Tae-gyu, Baek Mi-hyeon, Lee Seung-hoon, and Kim Min-gyo performed. Their enthusiastic performances sent messages of love and encouragement to the WeLoveU members and their neighbors.
“As a PR Ambassador, I deeply thought about how I can celebrate the 10th New Life Concert and make a better performance. That is why I wrote the song, ‘We Love You’. It is fun and easy to sing. I hope that this concert will continue to be held ten or even twenty more times so that more people can participate and spread warm-hearted love to more neighbors.” Singer Lee Seung-hun, PR Ambassador of Intl. WeLoveU Foundation

The children of foreign diplomats in Korea received a big round of applause after presenting a choir song. Thereafter, WeLoveU members Kim Gyu-min and Kim Jae-hun delivered passionate performances. The concert hall was filled with the fervent love of a mother. The event concluded when everyone cheered for the neighbors around the global village, singing “We Love You” together.
Comments From the Audience
A beneficiary who has financial difficulty, taking care of her grandchildren, said with a bright smile, “I’ve never gone sightseeing. However, today I had a great time, hearing other people’s stories and seeing great performances. I really enjoyed it!” After the concert, Gwon Sang-suk (from Gyeyang-gu, Incheon) said, “I feel like I’ve forgotten all my worries and feel so much better. Everyone on the stage and in the audience looks joyful. I feel like I too have received much love here.”

The family members of the foreign diplomats also said that they were happy to be able to participate in the meaningful event that spread a hopeful message to neighbors. The WeLoveU began to support multicultural families from last year’s concert, expanding its range of volunteer service activities. Since happiness doubles when it is shared, the WeLoveU will continue to volunteer with the love of a mother through various services throughout the global village in the new year.
