The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, which is an international relief organization, hosted the 11th New Life Concert on December 15, 2010. It is a charity concert to assist the neighbors in the global village who are suffering from diseases, disasters, or poverty. More than 8,000 people gathered\u00a0at Seoul Student Gymnasium,\u00a0including Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah,\u00a0Sponsor Chairman Lee Soon-jae, Minister Counselor and Charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires of the Ghana Embassy in Korea C. Mintah Agyemang, President of Sejong General Hospital Park Yeong-gwan, and WeLoveU members.\u00a0The concert was sponsored by Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare,\u00a0Seoul Metropolitan Government, Korea Youth Work Agency, Sejong General Hospital, and Sisa Media of JoongAng Daily.<\/p>\n

Intl. WeLoveU Foundation Grows to Be an International Relief Organization, and Supports Underprivileged Neighbors and Refugees in Korea and Abroad<\/h2>\n

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, which started as the New Life Welfare Foundation, has been growing as an international relief organization. It is carrying out international relief activities for social welfare, education, living and medical support in 34 countries, including Korea, and it is also carrying out large-scale campaigns such as the Clean WORLD Movement and the Worldwide Blood Drive. Through the New Life Concert, the WeLoveU also helped neighbors overseas such as Asia and Africa this year. Since the year 2000, the New Life Concert has been held every year, and it has supported underprivileged families and children suffering from incurable diseases in Korea.<\/p>\n

Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah expressed her hope to extend international relief through the concert, saying,\u00a0\u201cThe Intl. WeLoveU Foundation has been singing songs of love and hope, bringing about successful results. We will continue to sing songs for more people.\u201d \nPresident of the Tomorrow Foundation for Korean Youth & Rural Development Ryu Tae-yeong reflected on the old days when Korea experienced financial difficulties, and expressed his gratitude for WeLoveU\u2019s effort for international aid. In his congratulatory speech, he said, \u201cKorea is now capable of supporting other countries, and WeLoveU members are delivering the love from Korea to all nations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thereafter, the donation delivery ceremony began. The total donation of 200,000,000 KRW (176,000 USD) will be used for international aid to help the victims of the volcanic eruption of Mount Merapi<\/a> in Indonesia, the flood victims in Pakistan, and children in Africa suffering from diseases. Children with rare and incurable diseases and multicultural families will also be assisted with medical and living expenses.<\/p>\n

Togetherness Brings Resounding of the Heart<\/h2>\n

The second part, the concert, began with a loud cheer for a hopeful future in the global village through International aid activities.\u00a0Followed by a humorous monologue from actor Kim Seong-hwan, the concert continued with passionate performances from singers Lee Seung-hoon, Kim Min-gyo, Baek Mi-hyeon, Kim Jae-hun, Yun Tae-gyu, Sun Flower, and Ye Song-yi, and the New Life Children\u2019s Choir.<\/p>\n

The family members of the foreign diplomats in Korea also delivered a special performance by singing \u201cWe Are the World.\u201d The touching lyrics about creating a brighter future for the world together resounded through the hearts of the participants. The audience was deeply moved by the songs of love and hope during the three-hour-long concert. The round of applause and cheer from the audience filled the concert hall with warmth even on a cold winter day.<\/p>\n

International Aid With the Heart of a Mother<\/h2>\n

One beneficiary who hadn\u2019t been out for a long time said with a bright smile, \u201cWhen you are sick, you also feel sick inside your heart so much that you don\u2019t feel like meeting people. However, I had a great time today.\u201d One female student whose mom is looking after her younger brother at the hospital expressed her thanks by saying, \u201cThank you for helping my family with a warm heart like that of a mother.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just as the \u201cWeLoveU\u201d song suggests, the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation is spreading love in various countries, regarding all mankind as part of one family bound together with the heart of a mother. Now, we are living in the global age where people in many different countries live together. The WeLoveU Foundation will continue to move forward to help the neighbors around the world through international aid activities.<\/p>\n
